SLC Property, in conjunction with the West Midlands Rail Programme and SLC Rail, has secured permission to build three new rail stations in the West Midlands in preparation for the expansion of passenger services in the region.
Moseley, Kings Heath and Hazelwell are all situated on the Camp Hill line, which is primarily used by freight services following the withdrawal of local services in the 1940s.
The granting of planning permission for Moseley Station at the end of September follows the successful applications for Kings Heath and Hazelwell earlier this year, which is part of plans to better serve this prosperous growing area of South Birmingham.
Ian Walters, MD of SLC Rail and Acting MD for SLC Property said: “We’re delighted to receive planning permission for the third of the proposed new Camp Hill Line stations.
“A lot of hard work has gone went into preparing these applications including significant engagement with the local community. This process has highlighted the difference these stations will make to the local area and we look forward to seeing the new line prosper.”
Transport for West Midlands (TfWM) and the West Midlands Rail Executive (WMRE) along with rail industry partners including Network Rail and West Midlands Trains are leading the development of the new stations.
